We all want engagement, virality, retweets, likes, shares, followers, and all the other good things that come to social media marketers. If your social media management doesn’t promote this kind of activity, then it’s not even worth it to keep trying! In order to make the most of social media you need to plan, manage and optimize. Unlike most other social media authors, The Prolific Writer was designed specifically with small business owners in mind. How so, we keep up-to-date with all of the most vital platforms in one convenient spot.
Read. A lot. Just do it. Read everything. Anything. Just keep reading. It’s a great habit to get into. Books are our greatest teachers of how to write. You can see what has worked and what has been effective. Do you think Anthony Burgess was directed on just how to write A Clockwork Orange? No. He did something experimental and taboo that turned out to be amazing. Gathering a variety of literary influences is one of the greatest things you can do.
Write a lot. Write and write and write and write and write and write. Do it everyday and all the time. Make time for it. If it’s your passion, this shouldn’t be a problem. Practice makes perfect and more aptly, the more you do it, the more you’re in the habit of doing it, the more likely something you’ve written has turned out to be an amazing idea.
Actually, finish a story. You will not feel like a writer unless you finish a completed draft of a story. It doesn’t need to be long and it doesn’t need to be perfect, but the first time you finish it, you know you can do it again and again. It’s like that game 2048. Once you win, no matter how hard you have to work, you know for sure that you can do it again. You’ve done the impossible and realized it’s not all that impossible.
Share your work. Share with someone who you can trust, someone who won’t laugh or tease you, but will give you actual constructive criticism. Teachers and professors are excellent at this. So are parents, friends who read (especially friends who read), and friends who also want to write.
Be confident and a little bit cocky. Know that your writing is awesome and that your stories are cool and relevant. If you don’t believe in it, no one else will. Even if you’re not technically the best writer, acting like you are will definitely fool more than a few people. It’ll also show that you’re passionate. Having this attitude when it comes to writing will actually even show in your writing style. It helps significantly. You’ll approach writing more naturally and it’ll usually come a little easier.
